Enriched air (Nitrox) has been in use for more than 40 years.
In 1985 Dick Rostovsky began teaching diving with Nitrox and founded the IAND organization. After less than a decade, Tom Mount became CEO of the organization, added professional courses and technical courses, and changed the name of the organization to IANTD, so for that reason the organization is known to be “First to teach Nitrox”
After the diver has finished the Nitrox course he will be qualified to dive with oxygen enriched air to 40%, and he can calculate precise percentages of oxygen in the tank for the wanted dive.
Advantages of this dive – longer time at the bottom of the dive, shorter break between dives or flight, less impurities and oils, less fatigue after diving, reduce the narcotic impact from 30m depth, reducing decompression risk, as well after this course the diver can continue to Technical course.
This course is one of the mandatory obligations for Elite Diver certification.
